What is Caprylyl Capryl Glucoside

Caprylyl Capryl glucoside is one of 18 alkyl glucosides. It is a mild surfactant used in most of our products as a solubilzer.  It is made by the process of alcoholysis of glucose (from corn starch) and a fatty alcohol decanol (from coconuts) that is considered to be a “green” process by using natural and renewable sources.  This non-ionic surfactant is mild, biodegradable and has wonderful foaming, and cleansing properties.

Why do we use Caprylyl Capryl Glucoside

Rustic Strength uses caprylyl capryl glucoside in most of our products to enhance the foaming properties of the soap, help solubilize the essential oils, and to add mildness to the formula.  We look for ingredients that are on the EPA safer choice list along with other natural certifications like Ecocert and caprylyl capryl glucoside meet these standards.

Is Caprylyl Capryl Glucoside safe to use? Is it nontoxic?
